its just a simple ii V7 i but harmonic minor, not aeolian...

    Dm7b5 / G7 / CminMaj7 / X/ it repeats that every four measures...

my plan is to use the first 16 bars to develop a theme, then 64 bars of messing it up and then hopefully bring it back to the theme for the last 16 bars. hopefully in one take, but it make take a couple/few (thousand).

I'll certainly see what I can do, Sir! :) It's so hot up here under the roof, I'm not sure when I'll get started.

I think some people might struggle with the file format, so here it is as an MP3. The lingua franca of the digital audio age.

Hey Si, I would post it as mp3 - i mean i start with it as mp3 - then i put it on soundcloud. how are you keeping it mp3 for download... i just let soundcloud take over once i upload it from garageband... what am i doing wrong that it is no longer in the right format?

I've been trying to figure out the answer, but I can't find any option to make the download format anything other than the one you upload (and I've looked all over SoundCloud). This is a long shot, but is it possible the file you are uploading does not end in .mp3? It might just be that the SoundCloud system is confused about which file format it's receiving.

This wasn't played with a whole lot of confidence but did my best navigating uncomfortable territory.

This isn't very good, but if I stay in the heat of this room any longer, I will literally pass out. I'm right under the roof, and the sun has been beating down for hours. So one take or nothing.

Need to work on my endurance... made it to about 2/3 before it went to hell, so I clipped the tail and posted.
Also need to expand my lick library... playing the same licks over and over with slight variations only goes so far :(

Glad to be doing these again... what has been posted has been great food for thought.

The groovy thing that happens when you harmonize the harmonic minor scale is the cool diminished and augmented chords you get.

    1=C, 2=D, 3=Eb, 4=F, 5=G, 6=Ab, 7=B.

    1-3-5-7 = C-Eb-G-B
    2-4-6-1 = D-F-Ab-C
    3-5-7-2 = Eb-G-B-D
    4-6-1-3 = F-Ab-C-Eb
    5-7-2-4 = G-B-D-F
    6-1-3-5 = Ab-C-Eb-G
    7-2-4-6 = B-D-F-Ab

    i - CmM7
    ii° - Dm7b5
    III+ - Ebmaj7#5
    iv - Fm7
    V - G7
    VI - Abmaj7
    vii° - Bdim7

You can plainly see the cool subs you can use as arpeggios over the ii°-V7-i, and the harmonized scales you can use instead of the parent. Play the 3rd, 5th, and 7th degree for starters.

    Fun choice Monte!

Wait -- so when my dad said I was "half dim," he was talking about a key signature?
