A Yi 360 VR camera that is. I had been using the Richo Theta, but sold it after I learned the 360 video work flow, as the resolution was not what I wanted. This camera is similar, but with slightly higher resolution (5.7K(5760x2880)/30FPS), and some other advantages over the Theta such as an integrated LCD screen.

    Some old Theta work:

I'm looking forward to shooting upcoming jams, as well as some local bands for practice. After I get it down solid, I may market myself doing this. Heck, I'm still looking for work, might as well try and do something I like!

Well, it got here! My first test shot, just to see if it works. Have not played with exposure or anything like that. I guess it's no surprise the raw footage is in circles :). This is my inner sanctum!

You can't escape the camera in 360. It sees all!

As soon I I get the workflow figured out on this machine, I'm going to shoot some live music, see how it looks in stage situation, what with the lights and all. This camera is able to understand situations where one lens is going to get most of the light, the other, not so much, so it uses the brighter channel for exposure settings. I have yet to test any of this.

Here's another video I shot, this was a Theta camera.

First quick vid, see if it's working, seems OK. I did a quick test of the on board audio by jamming along a random jam track. You have to scroll the image some to see what's going on. One lens is covered.

No effort at tweaking setting or aiming, just wanted to test it out. I'll shoot more with it as time allows.

This has been a test of the Yi 360 to YouTube system.

Rough cut out of Premiere, moved some stuff around. Next up: shoot some actual footage.

Another random test. General exposure in good weather is fine. The in-camera stitching is OK, good enough for casual use, but I'll have to tweak the raw footage. This is 4K. (Oh, this is the back deck of my sister's house, not mine.)

Next up: test shooting live music. I hope the in-camera mics have limiters or something. I will probably have to record high volume audio separately and edit it.
