    Clear all done.
    Started to polish this evening.
    3" foam sanding pads on orbital sander, 2000gt, 3000gt & 4000gt.
Then 6" buffing pad with red buffing compound first for about an hour. Buffing pad without compound for an hour.

The control cover took on a slightly darker colour, even every coat was done as the body was.

Not a perfect mirror finish yet, but looking decent so far. :D

    More polishing this evening.

Used some Mirror Glaze Fine Cut Cleaner my Fater-in-Law had.

The grain on the horn is amazing.

    image.jpeg

In my mind, I was aiming for a darker outer burst. Maybe I should have tinted the clear with just black for the outer edge.
Still love the outcome & the way the grain came out. Kind of an antique look.

This should be the last of the pics until final assembly gets completed.

Great job on the finish! A darker burst at the edge would have diminished or covered some beautiful grain. The subtle burst you have done emphasizes the playing area of the guitar. Reminds me of a Mary Kaye. Most people that see it won’t interpret it as a burst at all.

    The Walnut journey has ended!

Just my youngest son has to finish off his Golmour Strat when the nitro cures in a couple weeks.

Last night & this evening, finished mine off.

500k push/pull tones to split JB & Jazz. Love the pickups.

Quite brite. Might play with a few caps to mellow. Found that reducing Vol from 10 down to 8, mellows it fairly nice.

    Thanks for the great encouragement.
    It was an enjoyable journey.

The black plastics complete the look very nicely. Finish has the right level of gloss and depth to make the most of the wood.

That brightness is the norm for walnut. Cap may get you there. You may want to experiment with some different strings as well. Pickup height can make a big difference as well. I have no doubt you will get dialed in.

Had to make a bridge ground mod this evening. Had a slight buzzing on max Vol.
Ran a wire from under Hardtail bridge to control cavity.

Had to drill on an extreme angle. Hit the mark, bang on. Red wire came out just beside volume pot.

Also added a 0.1uf Cap on the Tone pot of the JB to remove some of the highs.

I'm done posts until I get time to work on necks.

    Might be a few months.

Here is an update on the Walnut Tele body for my friend's youngest boy from Wisconsin.
While they where up fishing for 2 weeks in August, we put together a 2-piece Dark Walnut Strat for the oldest boy.
He will change it out with the Red MIM he has.
