When they came out. Poppy dance songs and too much attention on how sexy Michael Hutchence is.

Blech I said. That was what I thought of them.

    Fast forward a couple decades.

Watched a documentary a few nights ago on Amazon about Michael Hutchence and the last few days been on the yootoob watching a bunch of live performances.

Damn those guys were good! And Hutchence really had a great singing voice. Shame on Ant I said.

But it wasn’t just Hutchence that made the band, the musicianship was top notch as well as the songwriting which wasn’t just done by Hutchence, all of them collectively made it work.

His death was sad btw. (Brain damage in the frontal lobes caused by a taxi driver punching him and his head hit the sidewalk, lost his taste and smell senses which led to depression plus the drugs)

Weird things happen when you grow up and your mind opens up a bit. Or maybe I should say good things happen.

If I remember he dies from auto-erotic asphyxiation gone wrong...(or maybe not wrong). I never heard that taxi driver stuff....

Funny because a lot of those types of bands I snubbed my nose at. Another band was Foo Fighters. Dave is just the man. Well now that Netflix and my tv provider has music docs I’ve watched most of them now. Still not a huge fan but I can really appreciate how good these guys are/were. Even Dave grew on me.

I also watched that reality show the INXS put out looking for a singer. That was corny but still I watched it all.

I wasn't a huge fan when I was a kid but my dad played them loud in the house growing up. Now when I listen to them I get huge nostalgia vibes and a lot of appreciation for musician shop. I was obsessed with "Stairs" for a few months, listened to it all the time on the way home from work on the loud car stereo.

Sometimes a documentary can open you up a bit. I've never been a huge Who fan, but the movie The Kids Are Alright gave me some insight into them. Didn't make me like their songs more, but I could appreciate their progression.

"A Quick One, While He's Away" is in my top ten live performances of all time. Brilliant composition. Completely owned the show. The Stones were flaccid in comparison.

The Who were the best, no holes barred, come out and kick ass basics Rock band of all time. Prove me wrong... :p

Live at Leeds - go listen to that one.

That’s what they had to call it as there isn’t a classification for what really happened.

Yah; INXS was "not cool" by anyone at my school (at the time)...but there were a few of us that 'secretly' liked them---until EVERYONE liked them. LOL!

Don’t Change, and The One Thing were their best early songs, IMHO...

Never Tear Us Apart is a great one, too, although not a huge fan of the Kick album.

And on South Park Kenny hangs himself with a belt, while wearing a Batman suit.
