OK thanks didnt know that, didnt watch the video because because I dont need to see people whining. But yes if you are a professional musician its a bit different, you can show us how its done

Today's version of this song would be.

"Went to prison. Fear me, Respect me".

That would basically be it. If we're lucky they would find 3 different ways to say the same thing so the song could have 3 verses.

The Cream will always rise to the top and the merde will sink to the bottom and be forgotten.

Sounds like me and you are from the same generation, we were brought up in what many consider the best period for rock and roll 1964-1975 and not just for rock, soul music too, sure our parents were iffy about our era of music after the Frank Sinatra era ended for them, but that era of the 60s and 70s were the most creative explosion ever and the impact it had on us who were teens in either decade, we had Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Queen, Joni Mitchell, The Beatles, Sly and The Family Stone, Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield, Frank Zappa, Aretha Franklin, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Janis Joplin etc etc. These songs are still being remembered to this day

Years after look at how many artist's of the 90s and later try to copy and rehash that era...

Modern rock music is really bad, with some exceptions.
Talented young people are bored with the old rock formula and are inventing other genres.

In the unlikely event that you do stumble across some modern music that doesn't suck, it will probably be recorded or mastered poorly.

Music doesn't suck today. Im mid 50's so I naturally think the music of the 80's is best ... But I recognize my bias and every generation experiences that

What I still can't wrap my head around is how rock has expanded

When I was playing guitar in high school in 1982 - rock and roll went back 30 yrs TOTAL. Music just 12 yrs old was OLD and 1\3 of the total distance back you.could go

In 85 I was in a band that covered every era - we did Cochrane to the Cure etc. It was so .. COMPRESSED . each decade was a huge 'distance '

Now in 2021 (how is that possible ??! ) 80's stuff is almost 4 DECADES old

Rock now has a 70 yr history

20 yr old stuff in no way feels like 'oldies' but in 83 it TOTALLY was

I remember when U2 released Pride in 1984 (I was a huge fan since their first trio of albums and I remember my baseball coach saying they were just a dumb pop band (this was in 1981) nobody would remember in 10 yrs. I disagreed) and Pride o my got to #33 on the US charts!

Don't Change INXS only got to 80 on. The billboard top 100 Ffs

Just like Heaven -which we covered - only got to number 40 on the top 40

IOw even IN pop, so much of the best stuff is barely acknowledged in its day ... Through the filter of time ... The crap gets sorted out and the resonant stuff remains

    That's just as true now

Threads like this get all the OLD MAN YELLING AT CLOUDS responses that the music we were into decades ago ALSO GOT

Its always been that way and likely always will

Its ALWAYS 'music was so much better/more real/less trivial/more dependent on talent when ×I× was a teen/young adult '

That ATTITUDE posing as analysis has been a thing at least since the 50's but the current old man generation ALWAYS thinks current year is unique , that it used to be way better , and now it sucks

Despite the fact this keep happening , its ALWAYS different THIS time says all the old men yelling at clouds in nostalgia of when 'music was good '

    Plus CA change
