    It's all very fixable.

Tell your lutiher that you don't want it fast, you want it cheap.

If that's a Mexican (I could not tell on my phone), then it would be cheaper to replace it.

I would toss it and buy another guitar. YMMV

Ok, OP: I am emotional about my guitars too, so I'll give you my best answer.

First, like many of our friends here have stated, all the damage can be fixed and the guitar will be playable again, plus it'll get lots of mojo. Have a skilled luthier work on it with due time and you'll have your strat back.

Me, I wouldn't go down the "new neck" route. This has been discussed like a million times in guitar forums, but I belong in the gang that believes that a good strat is more than two good parts screwed together, the new neck might bring you the "it's not my guitar anymore" feeling. Just as it happened to John Mayer's black strat when he had John Cruz make a new neck. He just didn't like it.

Second, I wouldn't mind the job costing just as much as a new guitar... If it's special to you, then get it fixed, it's YOUR GUITAR you want, not a new one. I understand that.

Third: This is probably one of the worst cases of "Pissed-off GF thrashing gear" I've ever seen. Now you definitely have to tell us what you did to "deserve" that and what you did when you saw it. I'd DEFINITELY sue her. If you don't feel ok in sharing the love story, PMs are welcome. It's probably worth reading.

    Good luck!

I think it could be fixed. I think I could do it myself damn cheap. But the truth is, unless I'm holding it in my hands inspecting it, all I'm doing is guessing.

And as far as guessing goes, I think you could play it OK without doing anything to the body except bolting on the repaired, or new, neck.

    I'm just full of guesses.

In the United States, it costs money to file a lawsuit, even if you do it yourself. Filing fee, service fee. And one very important thing to always consider is whether or not you could enforce a judgement, if you managed to get one. I'd guess a third of adult Americans are judgement proof. Don't know anything about UK.

That's what I was thinking, as well as all her shoes in the fireplace.

I don't know how these fees are calculated in the US, but they are probably like what, 5 or 10% of the estimated damages? Plus I guess there are small claims courts there. Anyway I wouldn't let this pass... :)

Wow. That sucks. I’d probably write it off. To many memories that would piss me off every time I look at it. Hell it pisses me off looking at it............ unless you deserved it

Looks fixable to me. You need at least one new fret, wick some thin CA glue into the cracks and clamp, wood glue the headstock and sand and refinish the back of the neck.

Probably cost 150-300 to have a pro do it, and it will still have some scars. Odds are, you can fix it cheaper than you can buy a replacement used mim.

The real question is how you feel about it.

I agree with you - this appears to sort of an "easy" fix - if you don't care about looks, just function!

And same as you - until I really examine the instrument I cannot be sure of anything.

It's all about time/money/value in the repair world. Well at least a decade ago!

I’d be more concerned about that ‘bunny boiler’ running loose somewhere ready to strike again than a busted strat.
