    Looks authentic.

3rd generation American Deluxe Telecaster, made from spring of 2010 until late 2015.

Worth slightly less than that ($1,325) in Mint Condition according to Fjestad's Blue Book, but then again, they are going for higher than that on Reverb.

With the hard shell case, I reckon it's not that bad a deal, all in all.
    It's a pretty guitar.

(Original MSRP when brand new was $2,300, if that helps with the grand scheme of things perspective.)

    ;)

I would ask the seller for a better close up photo of the back of the headstock.

And I would offer $1,300 cash, and see if that moves the needle.

    :)

A few years back that was my dream guitar. No flags going off for me, but I would ask for that close up of the front and back of the headstock.

Price sounds about right to me considering the current market.

I see no red flags with the photos; it appears they are of a legit 3rd generation American Deluxe. But based on that exchange I believe there is the distinct possibility that this is one of those scam ads where the "seller" is using someone else's legit photos. And also based on that exchange even if the seller legitimately has the guitar I wouldn't want to do business with them.

Dude kept saying the collector... and I said dude someone collecting a guitar would not change the pick ups out. He claimed it was unplayed and then also said that as we all know neck tones gets so much better with age. The guitar is 5 years old. It's not a 64.

This kind of ish here is why I only like buying new. I know you miss great deals like that but to me its worth not having to deal with knuckleheads like that guy.

    .

He has a point about the S/N sharing. He could block off the last four digits and you'll have enough to know what it is, that's what most people do when sharing online. Do you want to post your car's VIN online?

As others noted it looks like the real thing/no red flags.

In the end you got a different guitar anyway so HNGD.

Yeah, good call. The guitar was real but he probably didn't actually have it. Typical scam. Weird/vague communication always gives it away.

Sidebar - I've never understood this. Honestly, what kind of personal information could someone possibly learn from a guitar's serial number? In order to link that number to you they would need to know where you purchased it and then gain access to that store's inventory and sales records. And if they had access to the store's records then they would already have people's credit card info, purchase history, etc. What would they need your serial number for?

Wise choice to buy new! Too much oddball things with the seller

While I can understand not wanting to publicly post the serial number (which I don't put in a sale posting) for an item I've purchased new (and have the receipt for it) after a few email or text exchanges to get a feel for the potential buyer I don't mind sending it to them privately.

There is nothing nefarious that anyone can do with the serial number on your guitar. Nothing.

This is just unfounded internet paranoia BS.
