Yep. Best friends. My family is all I got.

Her and her family brought me out of an unpleasant home life. I'd be homeless, in jail or dead if not for them. Now, thanks to their patience and a fair bit of book learnin', I feel reasonably sane and might actually be a productive person some day.

She gets me, she supports me, no questions asked.

My ex-wife is my best friend. We split because she needed freedom not because we hated each other.

Absolutely. I’ve had and have other good friends, but there’s nobody else I’ve ever met who I could go to bed with every night, wake up with every morning, and spend lots of almost every day with for even a year, let alone nearly 40 of them. It’s amazing to me that after this much time, we never seem to get tired of each other or run out of stuff to talk about. We’ve already had a great life together and just recently became grandparents, so hopefully we’ve got a lot more yet to come. Occasionally, one of us will be in a bad mood for a day or two, but we rarely fight - we just give each other a little more space when we need to…

My other half took a broken spastic basket case mess of a boy and Turned him into a husband and a father and a man with pride and confidence and self worth. As a bloke from northern England I’m not prone to gushing displays of emotion but I can say with absolute certainty that my missus Kelly is by far the best thing that ever happened to me and the most important person in my life. I wonder very day how I ever got so lucky…

Yeah, best friends for over 40 years. Have similar values, and some overlapping interests, but enough different interests that we also spend quality time apart. As has already been said, forgiveness is probably the single most important factor to relationship longevity.
