You run into new blood in the business...the kids of folks you have worked with for so many years! You take them in and teach them the game, become friends in the workplace but every once and a while its nice to throw in a "how's your mom and dad?" (by name of course!) to the mix!:D Keeps them on their toes too because I and everybody else there has known their parents for decades...and them when they were babies!:sneaky::D

With me it was a bit different. I teach at a university. You get these 18,19 year old undergraduate that look like kids. Heck, they are kids! They finish your course, you see them at the corridors for a while, and then they graduate. After a while they come back, finished with their graduate degrees they become my colleagues!

The time I felt really old was when I crossed with one of them at the corridor and he has whitening hair! That made me feel old... :)

It hit me when I was laid off in 2012 at 60 YO and replaced with 2 youngsters who knew nothing of the business but worked cheap.

I felt old the first time I walked into a record store, and didn't know a single act that was in the top 10.

I feel old every time my mind tells me I can do something, and my body tells me I can't!

you're helping the young assistant editor take in some VHS video sent in by a family for a crime show where their case was featured on the Maury Povich show and not only does he not know how to work a VHS deck, but when you comment "wow the Maury Povich show, that's a blast from the past" he replies with "Was TV big back then?"

The new robot on your floor asks you to be a doll and go make him a cup of coffee.

I was training a new guy a few years ago & he asked how long I'd been at the company.

    Me: "I started in 98."
    Him: "Huh...........in 98 I was 2."

    Jerk.
