Just received a couple if Italia leather guitar straps(they ran a buy one get one sale)Not cheap _$100)but man they are fine leather reminds me of a Coach handbag)Was I foolish to order them?
If they are what you like and meet or exceed your expectations, then no you are not foolish. Unless of course you couldn't afford them. That is cheaper than the custom strap that Bodean made for me but I don't feel bad about buying it. Happy New Leather Straps Day!
Ive been tempted but didnt like the squared off ends as much as the tapered ends I got when I bought LM straps recently. Roughly similar prices (not on sale)and quality
I coukd afford it but the most I ever spent for a strap up to this point is 20 bucks for a Perri Pink Floyd nylon strap).Well what should I put on them to preserve them?
Ive got a couple of the 4" version, you can have one color on the suede side and a different color on the slick side. The suede side wont slip around for heavy guitars and the slick side is more loosey goosey for changing neck angle
You are going to want to loop that end back through the tail end, the eye hole on the small strap before going to your guitar - using it like that makes me real uneasy. Very common problem that factory straps are too short. This one appears to follow that tradition. It's one reason why I started making my own. I don't want to say right or wrong, but most folks would wear the adjustment "tail" end on the back pin of your guitar. Interesting how the Italia adjustment loops work, big leaps to start at shorter length, then smaller adjustments towards the end. a bit of boot conditioner with mink oil won't hurt once or twice a year, depending on how much you play. Enjoy!
I got an El Dorado strap for my new Tele, $100, relatively cheap for them. Didn't care too much at first but now I love it.
I have a bunch of them, in a variety of colors. I have a few more, some in a dark brown color, in cases with the guitar or bass. I love them, extremely comfortable. I like the 4" versions, which work great, especially for bass guitar.
