Put up the trees.

Need to get more garland today though.
I came up with an idea back in 2011 when I knew, but still unbeknownst to her, that she would be my wife. We find a memory from the year that we took a picture of and frame it in an ornament with the year on it. Then we add it to the tree.

Then my own tradition that started several years back, the day after we put the tree up i get the kids together for a family picture before my wife wakes up.

We just started putting stuff up on Wednesday while my grandkids were here. My wife left Friday for 2 weeks in Central America, so the rest of the decorating is on hold. Bought a new artificial tree - my last one got ruined in the flood last year. Went with a 9-footer with built in lights. 15 minutes setup versus the 2 hours previously stringing the lights up........worth the extra money.

Ours is pre-lit too! The new house doesn't have a single step in it and we have a big storage room so I modded ours. Setup will now be to just roll it into place and fluff it out. We will pull the decorations and redecorate each year though.

Kinda broke this year, looked at those two footers grocery stores have.
May be jacking deer, sorry a tree, in the dark of night.
Lousy tome to go to jail too though, the free bracelets charm notwithstanding.
Gotta be plenty o firs in need of thinning?
Why does Maine buy Canadian trees?
Diesel so cheap?

Trees are protected and cutting is not permitted.
Unless you are the lumber industry.

I mean, I like it. Trees and deer both need protection from us. But I’m surprised.

Actually I do not know about any permit to cut trees on state land?Makes sense, and as a kid we did that, but there were falling down houses everywhere and private land with nobody on it.
So we cut illegally.
Also as a kid though, some grumpy old timers would shoot trespassers with rock salt.
I took a few chunks in the back of my legs running away once, late 1960s.
Not sure thats allowed any more, certainly not where I am in touristy Maine.
My street was all tall pines like good for ships masts when I was a kid.
City folk cut most down wanting the Maine experience to look just like the suburbs they escaped from.
Little evergreens only take maybe ten years or so to be Christmas worthy. Got a few growing in my yard, some I planted myself.

I was finally able to get pics of the outside too. Eventually I would like to decorate the fence too but it's a lot of fence.
The front of the house has 114.5 feet of lights and they still don't reach the ends.

Then the 4 Christmas trees in the front yard by the driveway.

I dread Christmas Day coming. Every year my mother-in-law comes for dinner, and stays til about 8pm. Sits and eats dinner, doesn't offer to help clear the plates or wash up, talks non stop about things I haven't the slightest interest in, and is generally annoying.
Boxing Day is bliss.

Mine are all LED and I have solar. The stands on the outside trees are solar too so they don't draw of the house at all.

Yeah, that was an anniversary gift from my wife last year. I love the movie so she suffers through it once a year with me. She is also the reason I have the alter ego. She didn't expect that one though. Lol
