Here's a cover of a Taiwanese song popular about ten years ago. Bass and backing guitar by yours truly. I've included the chords and a link to the original video in the spoiler below.

Don't overthink the combo-chords - unless you want to. It's a simple tune in B major. Or Capo 4 played as G major.

    Key of B major

Capo 4 (played as if in key of G major)
    Verse
    G Am G Am
    G B/D Am Em C B/D Am D/C
    G Am

    Chorus
    G B/D Am G Am G(G-F#-B) D/G

    Chords with no Capo
    Verse:
    B C#m B C#
    B D#/F# C#m G#m E D#/F# C#m F#/E
    B C#m

    Chorus:
    B D#/F# C#m B C#m B(B-A#-D#) F#/B

    And here's the original:

@s5tuart - Love the slide work. Adds a great vibe to the track, and you work it very well. :thumb:

It think this is a wonderful song. I'm particularly drawn to it as it was one of the first pop tunes I understood quite a bit of as I was learning Chinese.

This is really, really nice. I can imagine this in a modern-day western, out on the open plains, sleeping under the big sky. The combination of tone and slide work perfectly for this track.

Oops! I'm missing a track. I didn't save either. Fixed it. Imported both tracks and mixed down.

Thanks for the comments! Funnily enough I had already downloaded it and was twiddling around with the slide not long after I spotted it in the other thread. Then I saw on my laptop that it had been posted so I managed to be first at being first! :D

So I've made more than a few goes at this, but here are two that I'd like to share, all paying respect to the original cover. The first is more understated but I also wanted to play with video some more for the second take.

And this is the audio-only version of the video.

This is nicely played as a pair of guitar parts, not simply one on top of the other. Nice lines and harmonies here. Which guitar is this?

Lovely track! For reasons I honestly can't now justify, I decided to play the backing backwards, play two guitar parts, then turn everything back the other way, so my guitars were running backwards and the main track was the way it's supposed to sound.

@s5tuart – That’s just great slide playing! All the expression without a single cliché. A really strong instrumental part can tell a story and yours really does. It’s heartfelt and affecting.

@mjark – You deliver this with authority, but also sensitivity to the track. Kevin’s parts and yours work together really well. You’re clearly a very good listener, as well as a good guitarist.

@knh555 –The first thing I should say is the backing track you’ve created is exceptionally good, for which we should all thank you. You were always going to make your takes special, because the original song clearly has real significance to you. It’s a lovely song, and both your takes are very nice interpretations of it.

I am honoured that you would even ask. Just done exactly that. Yeah, hard to replicate live as you suggest. :)

I couldn't agree more about @mjark's listening skills, both on this track and others we've heard.

@mjark Lovely gentle feel in perfect keeping with the track. Nicely held looooong sustain on some of the notes adds to the vibe.
@knh555 Firstly, thanks for sharing such a lovely piece. I had downloaded it and started playing on it even before it became official. You're playing clearly demonstrates your affection for the song. Thank you.
@simoncroft Well, how innovative, yet your playing really adds to the dynamic of the track. I don't know if you tracked the whole piece and planned the result with your forward version of the lead but it certainly sounds that way. Really enjoyable!
@pauljo1963 Excellent. I loved the pedal steel (?) backing added to the track and the dry lead counterpoint set the whole thing off.

It's interesting how each of us came up with our completely different approaches, and just shows what a versatile track this is proving to be. :D
