    He's my favorite living guitarist.

    Favorite dead one: Django.

All time: Django by a moustache.

Those are (as reported) Suhr single coil pickups, but possibly stacked humbuckers (noiseless), and custom wound for Beck. I doubt very much that they have ceramic magnets.

Well, I was being sarcastic a bit, but even the CS Masterbuilt versions of the Jeff Beck Strat come with ceramic hot noiseless pickups.

I know you were being sarcastic. Also, unike Clapton who uses his stock signatures guitars/pickups , the last Fender production pickups Beck used were the Lace Sensors decades ago. He does not play those Hot Noiseless pickups nor does he even play his signature guitars unless he does so to fulfill an endorsement requirement (to keep the free-bees coming)..maybe for a single song, or portion thereof as he did the last time I saw him live: the final half of Freeway Jam at the end of his show.

How do you know he wasn’t playing his guitars? His are generally made for him by a masterbuilder from the custom shop. I think it’s Todd Krause.

That young man is going places, you'll see. Ha, ha.

He's done so many great recordings over the years. Some of my faves are with his group with Max Middleton on keys, Beck, Bogart and Appice, Blow by Blow, Wired, Guitar Shop, Live at Ronnie Scotts,... well, I'm running out of room. The greatest thing about him IMO is that he's totally unique in the world of guitar players. I've heard him say that he doesn't consider himself to be a great musician, not as good as his sister.

I don’t think anyone here has denied him of his personal achievements as a guitarist, but I tried a late 90s Jeff Beck signature Strat (the Lace Sensor model - which he purportedly did use at the time) and it just wasn’t my cup of tea, that’s all.

In other words, while I love his playing (“Blow By Blow” is my favorite JB album - and, yes, I know he used a Les Paul back then) his particular tone, overall, isn’t what floats my particular boat.

For instance, while his rendition of “Little Wing” was impressive, I’d still take Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan’s tone over Jeff Beck’s any day of the week.

Again, my “sonic preference” has no bearing on his “technical ability” here.

P.S. I also tried the Jeff Beck signature Esquire and loved it! - but I wasn’t willing to shell out $14k+- for it at the time either...

I don't think Jeff is interested in 'tone', he has previously said it's overrated. His tone is often fairly generic to my ears, its his technique(s) that make him instantly recognisable .

I’m a tone junky, so thinking tone is overrated is a foreign concept to me...

...as is having a signature model and telling everybody that tone doesn’t matter...

Blow by Blow was mostly a Strat and HB Tele, the LP was mainly for the cover shot.

It could be argued he doesn't care too much about his signature model either! The reverse headstock neck he favours these days is not on it. When you're Jeff Beck you can ignore any deals with Fender and do what you like.

Perhaps that’s true, but then he should tell Fender the same thing Roger Waters told Mark Zuckerberg...

He plays on Justice in the Barrel on the Young Guns 2 soundtrack and it’s amazing.
