JHS makes the Bad Monkey expensive

No, he proved that guitarists are idiots.
He made the other pedals sound like a Bad Monkey - the BMs settings don't change throughout the video.
JHS didn't push the prices up. Dumbass guitarists did.

I can agree with that. As I mentioned, he made the pedals produce the same sound. One sound. He didn't make all the Klon sounds with a Bad Monkey. He made them do one sound the same.

So he DID prove that guitarists are dumb enough to race to buy a pedal they could have bought for a decade or so for pocket money, because they couldn't work out whether it was good or not until they saw a demo of it not being changed.
Sounds dumb to me.

I like Josh’s philosophy of making what you have work. And I really think that’s what all of this about.
I’ve been down the rabbit hole of tone searching as I’m sure many of you have. And after watching a lot of JHS videos for the past couple of years I thought, “you know what he’s right.” I was happier and my playing progressed more when I had crappy gear as a kid. I made it work. Now I have a couple of nice pedals and a Bassman ‘59 LTD. If I can’t make that work then it’s my fault. Though I will say I play my Gen 1 Mustang 1 amp more than anything when I’m not gigging. Such a fun and great sounding amp.
To each their own, but I’m glad I do not take the bait on pedal hype anymore. It’s a fun (and expensive) hobby but I like focusing on my playing now more than anything these days.
Rant over, hope I wasn’t too pretentious but I think this whole fiasco shows the broader picture of what it is to be in the guitar hobby these days with near infinite gear at our disposal.

JHS didn't make it expensive. All the people who never wanted one until JHS said they were good made it expensive.

And all those people boohooing about it didn't need one a week ago. Now all the sudden they need one too and they wanna boohoo because they didn't need one until demand went up causing price to go up.

Sounds like a bunch of people crying over something they did. Crying because they can't buy a pedal they didn't want(that's been out for decades) until somebody else told them it was good is dumb anyway.

I would like to see the JHS Bad Monkey compared against one of the better Chinese Klon clones available for under $45 incl. shipping and taxes, of which I have two.

Its not a JHS pedal. It's a Digitech pedal thats been out longer than JHS has existed. Something like 19 years or more.

You can hear it vs an actual Klon Centaur

Lol the settings change. Watch it again.

At one point, the outer knobs are pointed inward (1 and 11)and the middle knobs are at noon.

Next, the left outer knob is at 1 oclock, the right outer knob is at 1 oclock and the 2 middle knobs are at 1 oclock.

I can go on but I proved my point

I got mine for free because the battery circuit was broken and it wouldn't work with an external power supply. Guy refunded it but refused to take it back
Some months later, in a last ditch attempt before sending it to the tip or turning it into a switcher I removed the battery connector and suddenly it worked again with a power supply.
Well worth the price I paid! On its own it's pretty useless but stacked with other overdrives/distortion/fuzz it makes an OK treble boost.

I did, you're correct.
In my defence, I'm 'blind as a bat' and believed a comment by another poster on the video. In his defence, the outer knobs are gain and level, and the tone knobs don't change significantly.
Your point is proved, but I don't think mine is disproved, either.

Could not agree more!!! Well said!!!

That's how he proved guitarists are idiots. Throughout the video he matches various
pedals to the Bad Monkey, not the other way around. Most people seem to have missed that.

The prices were then jacked by people who most likely turned their noses up at cheap pedals like the Bad Monkey in the past, but after seeing this video were somehow convinced that this particular pedal is worth paying good money for.

Don’t buy the Bad Monkey there are a stack of great pedals out there that will do the job.
I don’t think Josh always pulls great sounds, they are interesting in the context of what he is playing, but it’s not I would use a lot.
My personal weakness is Tonebenders, but I know I have a problem.

I laugh my ass off that so many people think Josh is some sort of puppetmaster, all he's doing is offering an opinion and watching the dregs of the guitar community lose their **** while he sits back and wanders whats wrong with them.... like the rest of us.....

I wonder how long it will take for the penny to drop for these mental midgets that theyre part of the problem, and that Josh is just shining a light on the problem, and ultimately...them?

I mean how is it not obvious by now, after about the 4th time he's mentioned a pedal, and its increased, that his message is that theres zero reason to spend a fortune on a pedal, and yet theres people upset because they now cant buy an expensive pedal...that they never cared about before Josh mentioned it....mind boggling how insane these people are....

I weep for humanity. People just getting stupider by the day

I look forward to working for our new AI overlords, because humans are not even in the intelligence race any more.....
