On the top right corner is a picture of a left handed 1965 Stratocaster. It is claimed that it is the only lefty Strat that Jimi Hendrix ever used.Does anyone know anything about this guitar? Does anyone have pictures of him playing it? My only reference to it is this picture unfortunately. I have otherwise never heard about this guitar...

I heard a story that EC bought a lefty Strat in a London shop to give to Jimi, but never got to deliver said guitar to him. May be apocryphal, idk.

There are no left handed Stratocasters listed in Electric Gypsy (Glebbeek, Shapiro; ISBN 0-31-13062-7) which is generally considered the authoritative source.
If the 'story' is true that the guitar passed through Barrett's hands and the NY office, it would most certainly be itemized in the equipment list in Electric Gypsy.
Also, it is strung right-handed and shows no wear indicative of left-handed use.
Do you have the SN# ?

The only lefty guitars that Hendrix was ever photographed with is this:

    and this:

The deal is, most people can say this or that about Hendrix, and a good amount of people will believe it, but until I see photographic/film evidence, that lefty strat is BS.

The caption for the supposed Jimi owed lefty states: "it went up for auction, unsuccessfully in 2005." I think that says a lot.....

I do not even know the source of the picture. It looks like it is from a book. I found it by using Google: „1965 Stratocaster lefty Hendrix“ you will find it on google images on pinterest. That‘s all I know...

But even if Jimi never owned it or played it, it looks like a really nice Strat.

Contrary to what what many want to believe, googoyle is not a good source for accurate information.
Many search results are 'self fulfilling prophecies' ...meaning that if you search for it you will find it.
Regardless of being true or accurate.

Here ... I will attempt to prove my point:
    Is this you ?
This is one of numerous similar results when searching "gretev switzerland":

Every time I use Google to look up information about Strats, I get pointed to this forum... so no need to prove your point... :D

From the general style of the typography and design, as well as the subject matter of course, I think that may be from 'Jimi Hendrix Gear' by Michael Heatley. https://books.google.co.uk/books?id...guitar used by Hendrix known to exist&f=false

As I don't have a copy of the book, I can't be sure. Obviously the statement: "This 1965 Stratocaster is the only left-handed guitar used by Hendrix known to exist..." is extremely suspect, but it may be that the author meant "only left-handed Stratocaster...

Tantalisingly, I can find this reference on-line but not the page itself:
Jimi Hendrix Gear - Page 168 - Google Books Result
    books.google.co.uk › books

Harry Shapiro, Michael Heatley, Roger Mayer
Opposite, bottom: The neckplate of the 1965 Strat once owned by Hendrix and later roadie Eric Barrett. Left-handers such as this were the exception to the rule ...

Anyone have this book and able to tell us what's on Page 168? :D
