I hope he's going to be OK. A lot of people don't realize how serious pneumonia can be. Working out which strain and the most effective treatment can be agonizingly slow.

    ive had it.

I have never felt so low in my life and simply just out of energy

Im sure he has a good support system of medical staff behind him, so I hope they figure it out and get it taken care of.

Sad news ... got to open for him back in the 90’s. Wow! Hope he can bounce back and be with us a little longer.

I was just listening to some of his Bluesbreakers music with Clapton. I certainly hope he recovers quickly. Pneumonia is serious business.

Man, 84 is really old to be gigging and living on the road! My Dad had a series of pneumonias starting in his early 80's and he finally decided not to treat one and died from it when he was 88. I had it a couple of times when I was young. It's an ass-kicker. I couldn't handle life on the road and I'm not even 60. Can't imagine it at that age. Then again, he's been doing it for so long it probably just feels like home to him...

    Poo.

I have a number of Mayall albums in my collection. He's probably the first influence I had to the blues.

It's over 20 years since my dad was hospitalised with pneumonia, at the age of 74.

I was 'brought up' on John Mayall, used to see him play small clubs here in the UK with Clapton, Green and Mick Taylor back in my formative years.

Hope he can pull through this and then learn to slow down and take it easy.

He plays Ronnie Scotts, and I swear when he plays there again I will be there.

(Ronnie Scotts in London is something like Iridium Jazz Club in NYC).

He's 84 wow I can't believe that his 70th birthday tour was 14 years ago I saw him then along with the Peter Green group. John was just as good as when I first saw him in 1968 or so. Peter Green wasn't.

Like others above, I followed Mayall in my teens, and saw him with Clapton, Green and Taylor - absolutely formative experiences in terms of my playing and branching out to listen to American blues artistes. I hope he's soon well.

Yeah, shame about Greeny. His downfall has been well documented. I've seen him few times in recent years, sadly the man is a complete shambles.
