Hi, I'm new to the forum. I've been playing for 15 years and have managed to contain myself to one guitar this entire time-- a 2006 American Standard. Well, I've been itching for a second guitar and nothing quite appeals to me like a Strat does. Saw this 1989 '57 reissue pop up on reverb and knew I had to jump on it. Absolutely love it, but afraid this is the guitar that starts my spiral into a full blown strat addiction! [IMG] [IMG] rsz__dsc1533.jpg rsz__dsc1529.jpg

Yea, you’re probably doomed to a life of addiction now. I had one Strat for years, even while buying lots of other guitars. Then I got a second, and it wasn’t long after that this happened - DE1211A6-23AF-4AA2-9B29-FBE0CDD109D1.jpeg

Nice color, of course you have no control when it comes to Strats. Seek help, stay off the net, play it :sneaky: every day.

    It's a slippery slope :D

I remember telling myself in 2005 that my HWY1 Strat and my cheap Fender amp was all I needed for life, 15 years later I'm only 2 guitars off double figures and have a cupboard full of pedals.

The only advice I can give you is, remember you need a Tele or a Jag as well to give you more tonal options! Or maybe a Les Paul!

    And another Strat... :D

    Just buy more haha.

Congrats on the new guitar, it looks great!

Absolutely wild collection! I love that blue ultra strat in the front...one popped up on the local craigslist around here a while back and I kick myself for not jumping on it then.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. The color on this guitar was (I believe) mistakenly listed as sherwood green. This was not a color option in '89 for the avri's, so I'm inclined to believe it is ocean turquoise that has aged over the years.

    Nice colour! Congrats!

    But...
And... (if in your 15 years of playing you haven't yet) do try other types of guitars... The strat is not the be-all and end-all of guitars.
You may yet surprise yourself and really start an addiction....

Oh I definitely have had the chance to play a bunch, I just keep coming back to the strat! My american standard is also HSS, so I had a single coil sized hole in my heart I needed to fill. I have a couple others on my absolutely-need-to-buy list though, including a JM and a duo jet.
