First off I wanted to say that this site and knowledge base is unbelievable, learned so much on here.

I am not worried this is not authentic at all but curious if my assessment of it being an SST-55 JV model strat is correct. Neck date is a little later? than the serial number would indicate for manufacture and it's not a Squire headstock.

Does not say made in Japan anywhere on the neck. Neck is beautifully made and finished with a nice patina and honest fret ware. I can see where the sticker was on the back of the head stock indicating the price in Yen. Picked it up locally on CL for a good price.

Owner replaced the pickup covers with new ones but the old ones were included so I put them back on, so much better. Believe she is all original.

Believe the pickups are Japanese SQ-5's. Mounted on strings and controlled by a five switch. Sounds really nice through the Deluxe Reverb. Plays like a dream and feels like a cherished love one in your arms or lap. Sorry for being corney but it's true. :thumb:

Any way here are some pictures. Tricky figuring out which model JV but I believe this was a domestic SST-55.

You have the wrong designation....'SST' was only for Squier branded instruments

This is a Fender JV ST-62-85, That means 85,000 Japanese Yen when new in 1982/83

It's not a 115 because it's not a nitro finish
It's not a 65 because it's an alder body

Here's a catalog

Thanks Dr. Stratster for the clarification on the model number. The five way switch threw me though as I thought the 85's got the DM-30 three way switch?

Glad it's an 85. Either way a great guitar in my book.

Thanks too jtoomuch.
