None of those bright sparks in R&D thought to clarify this for him?

It's part of history now, but always makes me scratch my head. ...

Once the patent paperwork was filed, it was too late to change the "name". :whistling:

Mine tried to bite me last night. I had to hit it with a hammer. Must be the weather.

The Tremolux amp seemed to get it right.

Using "Tremolo" for the Strat may have been a way to steer very clear of Gibson's Vibrola?

From what I've read about the personalities involved, my impression is that Mr. Fender wasn't the sort of fellow one "corrected".

    Suggested maybe, but "clarify"...?

If he hadn't thought to mislabel it we wouldn't be able to participate in this thread discussing it all these years later and thus would be that little bit more bored at home during a pandemic.

I think Clarence was a genius.

Possibly the only advert I've enjoyed over the last decade or so. Fell about laughing the first time I saw it on the box.

Thx Bit that's cheered me up.

As for aggressive tremolo threads and what gives I think it's usually the arm ... didn't Blackmore solve the problem with a custom made 1/4 inch arm and a rethreaded block to take the extra size?

Can't think what else you mean.

That fixed the agressive tremolo, but the agressiveness was transferred to camera men, apparently.

Forrest White was one employee who was able to get away with it.

Forrest ran the factory operation from 1954 until his departure in 1967 without Leo’s involvement.

There are no civilized topics. There are civilized persons, and uncivilized persons. The latter can spoil any discussion no matter the topic and should be gently but firmly shown the door. Calling other members names, or what they do, or what they think, is IMHO a clear enough indicator.

By "box" I assume you mean "television"? I was somehow visualizing a cereal box or something. You have to clarify these things for us yanks...

To quote Ghandi, when asked what he thought of Western Civilization.

"I think it would be a good idea."

White may have run the factory but he didn't run the show.
