I tried. Got a fancy-schmancy Paul. Started out slow, then just as I thought I was really starting to take to it....I picked it up less and less, sold it. Along came another deal on a fine LP I just couldn't pass up. Again, took the time to set it up, new strings, polished it up, played it a bunch, really started to bond - then same thing, just didn't take. Gone daddy gone.

I'll probably do it again (for better or worse). Maybe third time's the charm. Maybe the problem is I really like the look of that honey, ambery, yellowy flamed maple top burst, neither of which the first two were. They were darn nice guitars, just not the guitars for me.

Here re pics of the two I ditched:

I can't join cos although I love Les Pauls and I am always GASsing for an iced tea or honeyburst R0, a Goldie with P90s and a TV Special double cut, I don't own any of them.

I can't join either because I love only guitars with the word caster in them.;)

I know. That semi hollow almost made my eyes cross when I first dragged it home. Got it for $100. Needed a tuner, a new jack soldered in, a strap button, and a set up. Gave it the TLC and the time to get to know it, but just couldn't fall in love with the sounds it made. Traded it for a NIB Canon t3i with the big funny lense kit. Gave it to the wife. Big brownie points. Made her look at my wheelin and dealin geetars in a whole new light.

I love my Les Paul, nothing is ever going to be as comfortable as my Strat but that LP tone is irreplaceable.

I love my strat but it sounds thin compared to my '07 gibson les Paul. My strat is for my mellow songs, my les Paul is for rockin'
