Since my last post I have sold the Gibson J-45 I didn't use enough to justify having it (no specific reason, I simply reached for other guitars) so I bought an Eastman E2D (very nice, not a J-45 but nice enough for me) and my all time favourite acoustic guitar, a Classic Ovation 1613. It is my second one, and in five days I will get the third Ovation 1613. Mental, I know...
Anyway, here she is in a pic from the shop:

I bought my bucket list guitar a few weeks ago.

1974 Mocha Stratocaster.

Simply an amazing guitar to play.

Black bottom 73’ pickups, really light weight and just a pleasure to plug in and play.

That baby certainty looks clean.

While not “new” either by age or collection timeline here is my ‘74.

Traded my blue tele, and a small amount of cash for another SG. This one is very similar to the first one I owned for almost twenty years ago.

Previous owner did some modding:
  • Grover locking tuners
  • Tonepros Nashville bridge and stoptail
  • Graph Tech saddles
  • CTS pots & switchcraft Harness
  • SD Custom Shop «Super V» pickup (bridge)
  • SD «The 59» pickup (neck)
  • All Parts Witch Hat knobs
  • Dunlop straplocks.

Yep, been a while for me. Although finally I got it set up (although it needs another tweak IMHO), and I find myself playing it more. Gotta get the edges rolled before I cut a finger off.

The little black dot next to the Sustainer on/off switch is a piece of tape put there to remind me to shut it off when done. I've lost a battery leaving it on overnight. I use rechargers, but don't want to lose signal when playing!

How do those two little switches work?

The one with the bit of tape is the Sustainer 'on'/off switch overriding all pickups somehow.

The second lets you choose between two different types of sustain, or both.

I just keep it on both, don't remember the difference. Should look back into that.
