Not a fan boy of this band but these songs have some great content, musically and lyrically. This music works great on an eliptycal to kick you a$$.

Acoustic Version - Warning: If you have lost someone to addiction you may weep at this song.

Regular Version - Crank It Up

    Local Band I really like.

Iommi's Guitar work on this album is savage.

    Gillians Vocals kick ass.

I can't say I'm the biggest Nile fan but I did really like Annihilation of the Wicked which was part of Death Metal Marathon playlist for the first marathon I ran. It definitely helped to keep the pace up. :D

There are hundreds of metal bands that can be posted here and as mentioned in a prior response, like @sam_in_cali there's a point of diminishing returns for certain extreme metal.

For me, Death will always be the pinnacle of extreme and heavy metal. They pushed the envelope of extreme and technical music for that time period but to my ears, still held onto a sense of melody which I still require in even the heaviest of bands I listen to.

(No doubt the Clapton fans will listen to this and ask, "Where is this melody of which you speak?" :D)

Annihilation is a GREAT album (prob my 2nd favorite of their behind Those Whom the Gods Detest) and probably their most accessible too. In Their Darkened Shrines (3rd fav) is more chaotic but has a couple of absolute classics.
