I had a 2003 and sold it. Ive regretted it deeply ever since. Ive never found another Strat to replace it, until I bought this one online used from GC on a whim:

2005 Highway One in Honey Blonde. Funny story, I actually bought it and returned it to GC recently citing some condition issues I had with it and felt $600 was too steep, even though it had a certain mojo, felt amazing and sounded great, so I reluctantly returned it. It ate at me ever since so I went back to GC and bought it AGAIN. I love it and all is well. Anyone else love Highway Ones? Id love to hear from you.

Just caught this thread; yeah I really like and play my 2002 Sapphire Blue Transparent Highway 1 I bought brand new back in the day. Several years ago I swapped out the oem white pick guard to a blue pearl one loaded with pre wired Lace Hot Golds and treble bleed circuit. I loaded the HW1 electronics in a white pearl pick guard and put it on my 1988 white MIK strat, also bought new back in the day. I can return each to oem standard form in minutes but like them just the way they are.
Update: I also added Sperzel locking tuners and string saver saddles back in the day to the HW1.

It’s been one of my favourites since I bought it new. Gone through a few changes. Currently 50’s style with single ply guard, Kluson tuners and tone rider Alnoco 2 Blues pickups. Sometimes it’s completely different with Lace sensors!

How do you like the red, white & blue Lace Sensors? I almost went that route but Bruce at his Aamp's Guitar Shop in CA talked me into the hot golds in the early 2000's and I really have no regrets. Back then very few places were selling prewired pick guards iirc and I found him online and gave him a call. He was a super nice guy and a straight shooter to boot. I had the hand wired set on a freebie plain jane white pick guard in no time with comprehensive instructions on swapping them over to my blue pearl pick guard. That was my first time hands on experience with strat electronics. He closed his shop in 2013 due to his wife's illness and eventual passing in 2016 but he really helped me out at the time.

I had a 2006 that I sold in ‘07 because I was a dumb 17 year old. Regret getting rid of it to this day. Was my first strat. Probably spent the money on something dumb I’m sure. Nice ☝️ you got!

I remember falling in love with a blonde one I seen in a guitar shop years ago. I've never owned one though. How durable is the finish on these?

Not very, haha! Its a thin nitro finish which I like, personally. You can se the grain through it. I'm not a fan of really thick plastic looking finishes.

Red, silver and blue. I really like them for heavier stuff. Infinite sustain on solos. Even clean they sound good. Like a really good strat. Just a bit too hot. At the moment I’m doing a lot of funky disco stuff and low output pickups work better with my amp.

yeah, I love these allparts necks. 9.5 radius with medium frets and fat neck. They are great quality necks.

Very nice, I had a Highway one Tele that I traded in for an American special Strat . Never played a highway strat , what type of pickups does it have.
