LINEAR TAPER POT

I just finished a Classic Vibe partscaster and just to see what the fuss was all about I used a linear taper CTS 250K pot for the volume. My first time assembling all the electronics, so I triple checked my connections with a basic strat wiring diagram, using all new components - the only changes are tone control for the bridge pickup, and a Kinman treble bleed on the vol pot. I know how to solder well. Everything works except that the vol control doesn't turn down to off, it only reduces the volume by maybe a third, turned all the way down.
Does this fault suggest something I did wrong, or something to look at under the hood? I can post a photo if needed...
Thanks

Something incorrect about the wiring. Post that photo. Linear works just like Audio for volume... just a different curve.

Up front thought is to look for a stray strand crossing the pot connection somewhere, etc.

One possibility is the volume pot not grounded at the low end. The pickups go to the high end, ground goes to the low end, and output is the wiper.

Guess I should have checked a fourth time 🤓 or maybe I just need new glasses. I forgot to ground the lower (right side) vol pot lug to the back. I'll put up some photos of the finished project. Thanks again.
