I was talking with a friend about the Stones and we got to wondering what is (or was) the longest lasting well known band with all original members? I confess that I have no idea.

    RUSH

well ... i suppose not if you count John Rutsey

But i'm still going with RUSH because the lineup change happened right before they blew up and stayed that way for 99.99999% of their career

Actually, ZZ Top went from a quartet to a trio, so no longer all original members :p

The Stones aren't the same original lineup so I think some leeway is allowed. They are essentially the same lineup...much like Rush and ZZ Top.

Megadeth...Chont is a funny guy LOL. It's interesting that Junior found his way back into the band.

They had a period in the early 80's where Joe Perry had left the band.

True, but he wasnt replaced and is back in the band. I think that meet the requirements of the OP's topic.

True. They did a reunion not long ago and have rumored about wanting to play together again at some point but there was that whole middle period with a few line-up changes that I didn't account for :D

I was just kidding. That picture is from the Back to the Future III movie set, if I'm not mistaken.

I would have thought ZZ Top too...original members. Tons of bands I don’t follow or know the history of though. I was curious and did some searchin’ (others have too I assume).

Someone already mentioned them. Golden Earring. Since 1961, still have original members and still playing. Nearly 6 decades. Wow.

Actually, he was replaced with Jimmy Crespo for a short time. He played on the "Rock and a Hard Place" album. I think Whitford also left for a little while but don't think they recorded without him.
