Hey guys, bit of a lurker here now first time poster. I was rummaging around my storage the other day and found a guitar that I had bought many years ago. I haven’t picked up and played in a couple of years but am just now starting to get back into it and am trying to find out what exactly I have on my hands here - and basically if any of you have an idea of what it might be worth, if anything, and if it’s worth putting any money into it to fix some of the minor aesthetic issues.

From what I’ve been able to find online I think it was made around 1992 in Korea. The colour looks to be Lake Placid Blue (or used to be), and from what I can remember the guy that I bought it from told me it was a rosewood neck. I’d love any thoughts on if any (all) of these could be accurate as I am not as much of an expert on these as many of you likely are.

    thanks in advance gang!

Welcome to the forum! Yes, it's from 1992 - made in Korea, the color is actually called Maui Blue on this one......it's a maple neck with rosewood fretboard, same as on like 50% of Strats out there.....

These are a lower end Fender, they typically sell used for around $250-300 US.....

I have never seen one of those Maui Blue Strats in person.

cool color. I have a CN3. Well ... all that's left is the neck and some parts. It's modded beyond recognition and lost the original body along the way

    .

Get some new strings and do or get a pro setup and play it. Your skills will have much improved since you played it the last time and you may quite like the guitar and want to keep playing it not selling it.

If you wanted to 'upgrade' anything then typical candidates are the trapezoid tuners and wiring harness (pots, jack, switch in particular to the typical brands found on the MIA Fender Strats). The tuners are fine as long as you practice good 'tuning up' techniques but many players find over time they want something like Kluson or other types. Only do those if you plan to play the guitar long term. If you are selling then keeping it all original will get you more money. The buyer will likely throw a bunch of parts at it but want it left stock when they buy it.

Thanks for all the info and suggestions - much appreciated. I played this for a bit when I first found it, and it still sounds great even after all this years, so will likely hang onto it for at least a little while longer. But it’s great to actually now know for sure what exactly I’m playing :)
