I must be the only guy who prefers the sound of the engine to music when I drive.

I hardly ever use the stereo these days. It was a very different circumstance when I was a young adult.

I'm sure an aftermarket changer one could be patched in.

Completely understand. I drive in electric mode about 98% of the time so no engine sound. Sometimes I just like hearing the whine of the regeneration happening over music. I hate buying gas!

my car is becoming my only refuge for listening to music in now that I'm in an apartment. I refuse to be "that guy" with the blaring stereo downstairs or next door. Before that, I was stuck in a house with my elderly mom.

I'm getting psyched. I finally discovered how to download stereo mixes from my DAW and put them on a thumb drive. Of course there's the inevitable disappointment in the results but hey, no pain no gain. This is getting very interesting. I may be inventing excuses to drive somewhere so I can keep checking stuff. Maybe I'll just sit in my car in the parking garage and listen to tunes. :D

Our neighbour's son does that 18 hours a day, at volumes that only a teenager could possibly think were acceptable.

I never sit in the car to listen to music unless I'm driving of course but I do transfer mixes and demos to the SD card to listen because I know that system so well and can reference against a huge playlist almost immediately. A bulk of my listening is done in the car so if I get a mix wrong it's very obvious straight away and usually it's the bottom end that's way too loud.

I usually find if there’s an issue with the mix, it’s that the bottom end is too loud as well.

I’ve got two sets of audio on the computer I use for my DAW. I’ve got a set of powered monitors running from the monitor output on my Focusrite Scarlet interface and I’ve got a Logitech 3.0 powered stereo with subwoofer running fairly flat so I can render whatever I’m working on and play it on the computer to get a read on my EQ levels. It’s not scientifically accurate but it gives me a good idea of how it’s going to sound on the average sound system. Then I can take it to the car for another listen.

I just use my phone. One car is bluetooth, the other one I still need a cord for but it works. Probably have about 70g on the phone so I still have almost 50g free still

Voltec platform is vastly underrated. My 2016 Cad has gen1 but features tweaked software and parallel power ( generator and battery) capability. But it handles like a dream in the corners! I assume you have regeneration paddles in your volt. Best invention after the electric guitar! Only car on Edmunds rated 5 stars from every owner. I don’t there’s another car that can claim that...

Still on my $10 worth of gas from March... got 48 electric miles today...

There’s another forum member who has one just like mine, wonder if he’ll pipe in here... 7EE49B83-3EC9-4353-9110-99FEBAC06FC2.jpeg

Music when driving used to put me to sleep, so I avoided it.

Understandable. That’s why when you’re nodding off you have to listen to something like Radio Disney. A tortured soul never sleeps  C6FB9B1D-536D-4F6D-AEC0-C311E72346B6.jpeg

MP4 is for video.. Perhaps you're thinking of AAC audio (which I think is traditional for MP4 videos to use for their audio format)?

I would often listen to music with headphones in an apartment.

I finally took the wax cylinder player out of my car, things just aren't coming out on cylinder anymore. :(
