Can you pronounce its name : Isaias ? May be a strong tropical storm by the time it reaches our neighborhood...or maybe not. And, as usual, it seems it will be an overnight event which always adds to the drama. Gotta batten down the hatches and grab the rafters...

Yes... like we need this right now.

On the other hand, this one is more annoying than scary... Last thing I wanted to do on a Saturday is run around and secure/store all the loose items in my yard.
At least I have my generator ready and plenty of fuel, water, and food in store.

    Fingers crossed!

Isn't " low level hurricane" a contradiction of terms? Anyways, stay safe.

The current forecast shows the storm will not be that bad, but as we know, these storms can be unpredictable as well. Keep an eye on it, probably not a bad idea to take some precautions, just in case. I grew up in South Florida and my parents still live there. Most times the storm is not as bad as predicted, but there have been outliers too. Hopefully, it just weakens, or better yet, it just shift back toward the ocean.

    On standby to help.
It will be an active season due to the water being sooo warm.
Mother nature needs to get her punches in.
The only time I ran from a hurricane , it followed me.
    Now I just go surfing.

A resort area just a few miles north of us has already mandated evacuation for all non-residents.

We just (last Monday and Tuesday) had all our windows replaced with hurricane impact grade windows...so no more plywood covering the windows. Crazy expensive...but the old ones were rotting away anyway. Only a couple hundred cheaper with normal windows and a full set of shutters. Went for it.

We had a few limbs dropped thru our roof from Florence...Matthew too. Back then, we lived in Alabama and 500mi away from this house in SC. Now we live here...big difference!

    Stay safe!

Stories like this make me thankful I finally sold my little Florida house. I miss the rental income, but not the 'a hurricane is going to wipe out my little house' worries. And the taxes. And the insurance.

Florence did the roof in here...took down all my fences. Not much from Matthew, but about 6 weeks ago I had a small tornado dance across the front yard and snapped off an oak tree in front of the house. Luckily it fell in the direction of travel and parallel to the house and landed in front of the garden...couldn't have been better.

I took down the other oak, (the last of 4), the fool that owned the place before me planted right in front of the house. I've been topping them off for years but this one got away from me and was leaning towards the house.

Do what you can..and stay safe. It's early in the season.
