Maple or Rosewood neck for Miami Blue?

I like both maple and rosewood but I’d defo choose rosewood with Miami blue.

I’ve got a dark night am pro II and I really do like the Miami blue with rosewood. It was a tough choice and I’d still have either.

I faced the same decision about a week ago. In my opinion, I really love the yellowish tint that the maple neck has, there were 4 or 5 of them on sweetwater and I picked the darkest and most yellow one I could find. As far as tonality rosewood is supposed to be darker and more mellow but that's not the sound I bought a strat for, GIMME THAT TWANG BABY.

Anyways, I would sit on it for a week or so and look at them side by side every day. Your heart should tell you by the end of it! Good luck and man o man does this baby sing.

I find maple easier to play. It may not be, but that's how I *find* it. It just feels better. So, I think it looks better, too. I have two Strats with non-maple necks: a MIJ Stratocaster XII, and a G&L Legacy Tribute, with a maple neck but rosewood fingerboard. Neither is my favorite Strat.

I got an American Pro II sunburst a few months ago. Went with maple, just because maple is so "Fendery". Pretty much could have just flipped a coin, though. No wrong answer.

Since the headstock is still maple, it looks more goofy with the rosewood board, so for me I’d go with all maple neck. Rosewood fretboards look best with dark wood headstocks imo.

Having a hell of a time deciding here. Could use some feedback on what neck you guys think looks better. Tone isn’t a concern, either will sound awesome.

Maple looks more classic and streamlined but rosewood looks “hipper” and busier in a good way imo. It mutes the candied-out aspect a bit.


Any opinions appreciated!

Can’t believe I’m saying this, but…maple. I usually think rosewood looks better on everything, but maple just fits this color perfectly. Also, I’ve lately come to prefer the feel of a maple fingerboard.

There’s a Miami blue maple necked one in a local shop here in Redding, CA.

Really pops as eye candy. So, maple gets my vote.

I'll say this I like the rosewood on just about every guitar. But... that maple just looks so sweet with the guitar. Looks definitely maple.

I wonder why you said sound doesn't matter... Whilst I agree looks sound better...
In this case I would choose the best sounding guitar, as sound matters the absolute most.

Both are nice but I way prefer it with Rosewood...with the mint green pickguard it gives it that early 60s look.Here is a similar looking 1960 Strat in Daphne blue:
