I'm baffled by how decisions are made by SSA. I've been disabled for a long time. while I was taking care of my mother, they determined I was entitled to 75% of the maximum because I was living with her. She went into a facility and the house was sold last year to pay for her care. I had to move into an apartment with my brother. I also turned 62, at which time they changed my SSDI to SS retirement automatically and with no recourse for appeal, still capped at 75% WTF? Even at 100%, my retirement still would not be enough to pay for my half of the apartment. I can't see how they justify this.

That’s awesome, thanks. I was just thinking about that Les Paul a couple of days ago for some reason. Glad you’re happy with it.

And the runaround continues. Just got a call from some service provided by the VA to schedule a doctors appointment for me so apparently nothing has been settled after all and they’re just jerking me around even more.

    Good luck, Lonn

When SSDI asked me to see a doctor about my vision issues, the doctor walked in, looked at my charts and said "you're all set, I don't see why they even bothered." Formalities, I guess.

I’ve provided a mountain of medical information already, can’t imagine what one more appointment is going to do but whatever.

I went to a VA specialist for every ailment claimed despite years of documentation. I decided they were doing it to 1) reduce fraud, and 2) establish their own baseline---noting they were not necessarily attempting to discredit my claim, they were assessing the extent of my claim...my first couple of visits with "my" provider at the VA clinic also went over everything. It is part of the price for entry into the system and the follow-on care provided...which in my case has been generally pretty good. ((In my case, a high pain threshold masked a couple of things the specialists were interested in and subsequently called out with ratings. They also called out a couple of things long healed with potential for complications as I aged.)) Plainly, some of this doesn't apply in the case of someone already in the system at 60%.

I always try to go in with a smile and a good attitude...I've had good-excellent service and support for close to ten years AND I'm in much better shape than many of my peers and shipmates I see in the waiting room. The provider email system one can sign up for is a really nice new-ish feature.

Hang in there. Cooperate as best you can:thumb:...the care and services provided are worth it, as you are probably aware. The adjudication/decision process appears to be tougher (imo) the longer one is out of uniform.

Agreed. Caught me off guard yesterday as I was expecting and end to all this instead of more questions. The meeting with the judge last April was supposed to be the last stop and it went very well. Unfortunately he retired before finishing up my case and I guess the new judge wants more info.
