    In my own little world
Smaller necks annoy my arthritis very quickly. My days of playing Ibanez wizard necks are long gone...

Those look like a flat pole version of the factory pickups in a 62RI MiJ I had. They weren’t bad, but they weren’t great. A5 if I remember. Sounded a little thin to me, but some people like em.

A Fender Japan Strat had grey bottomed alnico pickups with plastic coated wires?

I could certainly be persuaded to believe that. I thought that we had established that they were Tokai Silver Star pickups?

I don't know anything about Tokai really...so I leave that up to you....

Never in my life have I seen any ST-33 or ST-362 or ST-357 or any of those modern 60s Fender logo 'Standard' Japanese Strats with alnico pickups from the factory....not once....

The contemporary models with System I, II, III trems did have alnico though, at least the Fender branded models - not sure about Squier....

Have you seen any Fender Japan/Squiers with grey bottomed alnico pickups?

ZERO from the factory, some if modded by previous owner etc....

You’re probably right. I went back looking for pictures from when I sold them. I think it was to a forum member here.... Anyway, they may not have been grey bottom, but they were Alnico and had those thin plastic wires. It was a 96 MiJ 62 RI.
