I picked up a white Squier SE a month or so ago and wasn't super crazy about it...other than that glorious white body. I used the guard on another guitar, sold off the other bits and have been looking for a cheap MIM Strat to use as a donor for all the other parts. Today is that day. Dropped my wife off at the airport in Chicago and snagged this 07 CAR MIM on the way home for cheap. It's gorgeous in it's own right but I'm sticking to the plan!! I have the soldering iron heating up right now and within an hour or so the swap will be complete barring any unforeseen problems.

I did a similar thing with the white SE I acquired. I just kept the body and the pickguard and put custom parts on it. It turned out nice.

Well, after the swap I just couldn't stick with it. Breaking up the MIM bugged me more than I though it would lol. I put the neck and trem back on the CAR body and am awaiting some black Dimarzio pickups that should be here tomorrow which will go in it. I'll build up the white body another time. My goal is this look.

That is just a reflection, but I bought it was a good chunk of finish missing which is why I got it so cheap.

You did well! I actually liked your body swap but the red/black is a nice look too.

I'm such a softie. I had a junk red body and neck that I was giving away on FB last night and a woman messaged and said she wanted it for her son, and had a cousin that could fix it up. It really wasn't nice enough even to be fixed up as a present so I talked to her when she arrived and could see that she wasn't well off and was really appreciative of the free stuff. I told her to hold on and I gave her the loaded white body along with the neck off my Squier Standard Cherryburst and a new set of strings. I couldn't have her give her kid a total piece of junk.

I thought that the SE had a slightly deeper neck pocket than the MIM. So there must be quite some space between the fretboard and scratch plate when moving the SE neck to the MIM. Equally the MIM neck on the SE will have a very low action. It will fit though since the MIM is 21 fret.

@Lonn you are a good cat for sure. There's nothing more fulfilling than ti help someone who can't get it themselves but will truly appreciate what it.
