In the other 5e3 thread, I said they're not for Joe Pedal. Well...this is my old band rehearsing. I used a 5e3 and a 5d4. And a pedal board. Delay, a Jordan Bosstone, the Bad Bob, and a 6g15 Fender Reverb unit.

Both amps had the volume controls set for clean mode: Used channel at 6-8, unused channel cranked wide open.

    It sounds like this:

So...you can hear it over a band. Even when cleanish. Pedals work fine. The debate continues...LOL

Cool song, verse reminds me of Run for The Rose's by Fogelberg and I hear hints of Soundgarden and Cream mixed in the rest! :thumb:

Thanks! I wrote that. The verse I hear I started A Joke by Bros Gibb. Or Father & Son by Cat Stevens. Lol

But dirt dirt and more dirt...only when I ask it to. And PAF's hammering the front end? Only when I want it to.
Gets lost in the mix...only when I want it to. :D

    The 5e3 is a 12 watt amp.
The 5d4 is 18 watts going downhill with a tailwind.

Both have Red Fangs in them. Efficient as hell.

Me plugged into my 5E3 with two guitars and no pedals. The amp literally does it all well. Pedals, no pedals. Whatever you want it’ll do it. You just have to want to do it and when you don’t want to do it it won’t- just like Fezz sezz.

Chris, that’s a cool song. It’s got that thing that makes you tap your foot or nod your head with the beat.

Is that Bad Bob a clean boost or does it clip and distort the signal? Your guitar gets huge when you’re overdriving the amp.

That brings me back to the power trio I was in in the late 90’s. Me with my Ibanez AS100, a really talented bass player Peter Mynett and my buddy Mike on drums. The semi hollow body is a great guitar.

I click on the Bad Bob after that little break in the middle.
For the chorus parts it's a Jordan Bosstone. A fuzz.

Oh... Got it. That’s how it gets so huge. Thanks. Good to know. I’ve got a few Fuzz Face circuits but I’ve never boxed one up. I’ll have to get on that. Thanks!

no clip yet (it was recorded by somebody, but i dont have it yet), but my new jazzmaster sounded pretty darn good through a certain 5e3 last night... its so big and round and full of life... touch of delay and the Bad Bob. and some light to heavy fingerpicking...

Just like it should be...out there making music. It's a very special amp. Sometimes I miss it, but I'm not playing out much any more. That one needs to be played.

Thanks. I was just looking it up when you posted this. Looks like a great addition to my pedal board.

The EHX Satisfaction fuzz is based on the Jordan Bosstone.

Ok, @fezz parka @montemerrick i wanna get a bad bob, but I have a pretty amazing Klon KTR that I use as an always on pedal. What’s the benefit and what’s the difference if you know?

i don't know anything about the Klon...

the BB does this thing which is quite amazing - it makes it seem like it puts you more inside the bloom of the note, rather than push it harder toward you... its seductive in other words... without altering the basic tone. just surrounds you more in it... the kitchen clock and other mundane trivialities disappear. with the 5e3 that means an increase in the amp's already hairtrigger responsiveness and therefore unforgiving AF, but who among us came here to be forgiven?

its one reason i play acoustic a lot... that's only one instrument to master. - the 5e3 is a whole 'nuther program...

Don't build one. Analog Mike makes them the way Robbie did. Components are hand selected and matched. Buy one from Analogman.

In many ways it's part of the instrument. Or like the heart and lungs.
