What gets me about UPS and FedEx is they have computers coming out of every orifice, GPS this, tracking router that...and still, they don't know until after 9:10 p.m. that the package isn't going to make the 9 p.m. deadline. Which seemed to me you with all the electronic doodads and logistics experts they might know by 4:15 p.m. that it's not going to make their schedule.

No acceptable excuse for it. Just poorly run.

I try my level best not to use Amazon, and so far I’ve been successful.

The last mile seems to be where everything goes wrong.

Using USPS always have insured packages when shipping.

I have never had an issue even during the Holidays or New Years.

    Maybe I am lucky

All this " Hub " BS.
    Everything goes through
Sorting // Distribution Centers by Delivery Date and Area. Some items go through more than 2 Centers.

I remember when 7 to 10 days was normal. Car parts from
    PAW, Summit, Jegs, etc.
Express Shipping was out of this world expen$ive.

Why? They have better shipping than, anyone else and I can usually find what I need for less than it can, be bought for at most regular places. Personally I like getting my stuff in 2 days, not 3 weeks. So I go there first. If I wanted to wait that long, I'd rather get up and go to the store and buy one in person. 2 days is manageable. But weeks? No thanks.

    So I go to Amazon.

Except with Amazon. They, seem to carry it all but the last mile and let the post office do that. At least around here. Everything I order is shipped with a USPS 'partner' until it gets to my city. Then it's transferred to USPS at 5:50am and I get it later that day.

The tapered reamer I ordered today will be here tomorrow afternoon.

You cant get that anywhere else without paying $60+ for overnight shipping with USPS/UPS/FedEx. I paid $5.99 +tax and free shipping for it.

Thanks whatever store I bought it from on Amazon Marketplace. It was some sort of hardware store.

I ordered a set of replacement jacks for my HRD. Got an email Saturday saying there were delivered to my inbox, but I didn't actually get them until Wednesday. Then there was a member that sent a small item from MO, took 2 /12 weeks to get here and meanwhile I ordered something from the UK on Monday and it's supposed to be here today.
There's no rhyme or reason for any of it.

A week or so ago I ordered a new bridge for my les Paul. Shipped out of Philla. it went to that Elk Grove Ill. distribution center. where it sat for three days on it's way to Georgia. Of course it must go to Florida first then to a city 500 miles north west of me in Georgia then to my small town where they always get it out for delivery the same day. Their routing system needs so much more than work it's not funny. Oh yea, almost forgot U.S.P.S.

I use eBay or other resources, I’ve also checked some prices on Amazon and found them to be price gouging.

Is it actually Amazon(sold & shipped by Amazon.com) or is it the people who run a store(shipped and sold by 'Mom n Pop's Attic') on the Amazon marketplace? There's both on there and the price gouging I saw was from stores that set their own pricing. Like with TP and hand sanitizer, laundry detergent, etc... It was ALWAYS a store run by someone. As soon as Amazon.com got more stock, it was always normal price. At least on my end.

Not that I like him but Jeff Bezos is a multi-billionaire. Why would he put that on the line to make 3x the price on 30 boxes of detergent, etc??? It makes no logical sense for Amazon themselves to be price gouging.

I guess it’s possible it was an independent store.

Yep. Mine is literally less than 9 miles from my place. It is 7 miles from the post office that my mail is delivered from. I dare not go say anything because the last time it was lost at that post office, I went in and asked if I could just pick it up. Tbe guy took the tracking number down walked in the back for all if 30 seconds then came back out and told me that there was nothing he could do for me other than take my phone number and call me when he found the package because my deliverer had already left for the day.
At this point it's like every other part of the umbrella they are under IMO...completely hopeless.
