Morning guitar. Does anyone else spend any time playing in the morning?

Most mornings for me (after walking the dog) begin with coffee and about a half hour on the couch, doing some finger strengthening exercises while I catch a bit of news before work. I was just thinking about how much I like to have my guitar with me while I drink my morning coffee. I built it into my work schedule. The only day I don’t do it is Friday...I have to be in early on Friday and wake up at 6:30 instead of 7. Not a morning person.

If I play in the AM...I usually do it after coffee, breakfast and my workout...so maybe 10ish. Plainly, I waste the time between wake-up at 0630-0700 and 1000. Feels good:thumb:.

I like to play them too. I think my morning routine came from the uncertainty of what will pop up during the day to keep me away from the guitar at night. With a family, there’s always something. Also, after work many nights I’m just completely spent and need to lay down and do nothing.

as long as I get my morning guitar exercise in, I don’t feel bad about not practicing.

Yes. First thing I do in the morning, last thing I do in the evening.

I wait until 10AM to give the neighbors a break.

I telework two days a week. I keep a small amp in my home office for those days. Sometimes I will play before I start checking emails, but I always have a guitar in the office with me. I take small little breaks through out the day and jam with my loop pedal. But, I am mostly an afternoon/evening player.

This has probably done wonders for your chops. Those little breaks of getting some playing time really make a difference.

    Jeez man, 5AM!!!

I wake up at 7...6:30 on Fridays. Anytime I’m up before 7, I think to myself “this is an ungodly hour to be away!”.

I know some people enjoy mornings and I can see how it would be tranquil to be up while the world is still sleeping. I’ve just always been a night owl and would rather stay up late than wake up early.

My father is the same way. He retired a few years ago but still wakes up with the roosters and gets a start on his day.

I play more in the morning than any other time. Sometime into mid-afternoon, but rarely later. I've always been a morning person. When I was in my teens and 20s, I was a morning, noon, and night person, but the morning thing has been a constant.

Another early bird here. I rarely sleep past 6:30. I'll play whenever time permits but most of my recording gets done early in the day before the house wakes up.

I play whenever I can, sometimes in the morning, afternoon and evening.
But I limit my sessions to 1/2 during the day and 45 mins to one hour max in the evening

Any particular reason for the time cap?
