This moving crap is for the birds. I've come to the conclusion that I'm too old to be a roadie.
I just moved from CT to SC
The only thing worse than the packing was my wife telling me every day 'it's not going to fit' and 'we're not going to be packed in time'
of course, we were done early and it all fit with a few inches to spare
I get it and dread it but its comin.
We've moved 18 times (2 international) during our 42.5 years of marriage. It is always a chore and expensive. If we move again, it will be to within a block of one of our kids...or with whatever fits in one vehicle to the old folks storage facility (three squares, a cot, and bingo).
Edit: we've been in this house for ~7 years for a bit more perspective.
18 moves here as well. It gets harder and more miserable every time.
I feel your pain I just moved January 1, I got a count. 17 guitars 2 amps and a dozen pedals in my 10x12 bedroom. Too much for that room but I don't really have any more room at where I store my amps and guitars.
Thankfully the new room is much larger 15x15, with a walk-in closet... room for more guitars???
Moving is just
46 times in my life...
Moving is the true litmus test of friendship...
Too many moves to count. Moved from Kanas to Texas this time last year. Still not settled in: house too small, needs repairs, and no storage.
I'd rather take a beating...
Moved every 3 years as a kid, dad was in the military.
Now I’m a habitual mover so we buy a new house about every 5 years on average. I drive us crazy. We make money on each sale and have a really sweet house now and it cost us nothing but moving.
I’m hoping I don’t get the itch with this place as we’ve acquired a lot of stuff in this 5 year stint and I’m up to 32 electrics.
That is why I like lightweight guitars & gear .
Moved across the country twice in the last year and a half. Do to some logistic issues, had to drive multiple times. It's a horrible thing, but I'm getting really good at driving thousands of miles when needed.
We just moved from Mass to SC in June.
OP, you’re right. It’s a read PITA
We moved once a year in our early days, and 7 years ago moved from Indiana to California, making the trip by cars with walkies to stay in touch on the road. We’d never seen the west from the ground, and it was a terrific experience. Just driving across the CA/Nevada line was worth the entire trip for me.
But the six months before that move just about killed me.
from where to where?
I went from Stamford to paradise...I mean Hilton Head Island
I lost track after 24 moves, and as a packrat, no less.
You have some experience, there!
So tired of moving. This here place is my last stand. Hopefully.
I've moved more times than the average bowel...and yes, it is crappy.
On top of moving every 1 1/2 -2 years, I spent about 4 years in the mid seventies delivering furniture...heavy furniture, in the NOVA, DC, Maryland area. So, I moved three times a week for that time. can pack the hell out of a moving truck.
Right...Friends help you move.
Real friends help you move bodies.
I always enjoyed that drive. Must have done it 15 times or more. I'd do it again if I could.
