Are you sure? Maybe he only wanted to bang on his percussion instrument from 8AM to 5PM, then go have a nice dinner and relax before going to bed.

If a man stands completely alone in the desert, no one there at all, especially women, and says something, is he still wrong?

If a man can't see a woman roll her eyes at him, did it still happen?

As they all say, where there's smoke...

LSD wasn't Syd's only vice though - and the problem with "stories" and "unsubstantiated evidence" is that it becomes folklore.

I'm absolutely sure that "The lights were on but no-one was home" - but I highly doubt it was due to just LSD

The German cadre was definitely involved with Peter Green - the entire band and road managers have backed that incident up.
Whether the same group was responsible for Syd is up for debate, but the members and management of Floyd have said that Syd was hanging out with people who were doing the same thing as the German group.
The entire band contends that it was either bad acid or an overdose - that he disappeared one weekend and when they found him several days later he was "gone."
To be fair, both Green and Syd later were diagnosed as schizophrenic - the general consensus was that they had the condition already and that the LSD/drug use triggered a more rapid and dramatic mental collapse.

Rick Wright's take on Syd, start watching from 6:45 about the general drug use, then about 8:30 regarding Syd.

These drugs were being synthesized by home labs, chemists who probably knew what they were doing. However, impurities, missed steps in synthesis, other errors can create something that works differently on the receptors in the brain than the intended drug. Anytime anyone took stuff back then they didn't really know what they were getting.

Look up "MPTP" the drug that came from a Berkeley Biochemistry Ph.D. candidate who was synthesizing a Demerol - like drug that, in his mind, wouldn't be illegal since he wasn't synthesizing exactly Demerol. After a few tries he inadvertently left out a step in the process producing something called MPTP which, instead of getting you high, destroys a part of your brain called the Substantia Nigra, the same part of the brain that, when depleted by age, causes Parkinson's disease.
So this young idiot gave himself, and about 400 people in the Bay Area Ca. 1985 acute severe Parkinson's Disease. Look it up, its usually a disease older people (Michael J. Fox is an exception to that rule).

So, I wouldn't be surprised if a similar process could have resulted in "Bad Acid" from a lab and took Peter Green where he ended up.

These drugs are unregulated, the people making them cannot be relied upon.

Think Tom Petty as a similar victim. We are getting illicit Fentanyl from China through the Southern Border. One of them is N-Acetyl Fentanyl which, according to the Coroner was found in Tom Petty's blood after his sudden death. When I read a summary of the report in the LA Times I looked up N-Acetyl Fentanyl. Its not contained in Fentanyl patches, the medication said to have been prescribed for his broken hip. It's a "designer" drug, something designed go elude detection or is not on the list of medications that cannot be obtained by a prescription (Schedule II-V DEA) from the 80s and cannot be legally prescribed in the USA. When I saw that I thought knew what might have happened to the poor guy. He he could have gotten a hot shot.

    Perhaps Nancy Reagan was right.
