This last week my music room took on a new look. I decided to get rid of the floor standing shelves in lieu of a couple floating shelves. I will probably make some more in the near future too but this is sooooo much nicer than before. Plus I cleaned and organized it too. It's a much nicer place to be now.:thumb:

My space magically disappears when I'm not using it...

Very nice. I’d love to get my gear out of the basement gym and upstairs into an extra bedroom we don’t use but haven’t talked my wife into it yet. Really haven’t tried that hard. Sometimes the room is used for Airbnb.

    That’s an awesome hideout.

I’ll remember this thread and bump when I move house in June. The extra bedroom has been selected as a guitar room/office.

Edit: What’s the EVH paintjob w/Kramer headstock guitar?

My room is still jacked up due to working from home. The room was small enough without big folding table with laptop and a couple of big monitors. Anyway, I too did something to improve the music room. I hung our friend Skellie in the corner.

I keep thinking everyone else has a much more roomy music room but finally realized it's the drum kit in here that makes it un-spacious.

My room really isn't that big. I think its around 10'x12'. Definitely bigger than some people's but we live in a fairly modest sized house and really don't need a LOT of space for just the two of us. I've also been working to keep the house more organized and get the mazximum use of our space.

I mostly live alone these days. I think this room is about the size of yours. Back before the plague and working from home, we could arrange it well enough for 3 or 4 people to play and enough room for the kid and I to record.

I'm spread out over the office, (spare b/r) and the gym, (spare b/r 2), both cluttered at this point, with a few larger amps and stuff in the living room.

Working on thinning the herd and then I think I'll try to consolidate everything in the living room, except cases. Leave the workbench in the gym and a couple guitars here in the office to grab when the urge strikes here. Clear one closet and get a rack just for cases.

I definitely need to do something......although I have to say, sitting here surrounded by guitars is kinda nice.

A drum kit can make a 12x12 room feel small

I was lucky enough to get a makeover done on my music room just before the shutdown started.

Prior to that, the room had hideous pink carpet, ghastly yellow walls and blue woodwork that I’m sure had been painted by the previous owner’s child.

The work was all done by a friend who pulled the carpet and patched and painted the walls and woodwork for $500 and a new ukulele he had his eye on.

It’s essentially done, other than I’d like to add a little more art to the blank spaces on the wall.

...and maybe covering up the old asbestos tile that was under the pink carpet with something—preferably hardwood—would be a good idea.

Because of the windows and the layout, it’s really tough to get good pictures.
