Man my friend came over to show me this.

Honestly never messed around with EQ much. Have messed with a black Ten band and the older black 6 band versions and they were never that good.

This new one is pretty awesome and I must say its so great I may take in an OD to sell at my GC and trade it in for a new MXR Six Band EQ.

They have a great range, are simple to use, set up and dial in and most of all just sound amazing and are so versatile.

Here is a nice video of one compared with an original 6 band EQ. The new one is as good or better or practically the same. Just a great piece of kit and must have for any board especially something with a bit of dirt and OD. Just makes everything sound so nice.

I just recently got the 10 band version and was amazed at how much tonal control and tweaking it’s capable of. The additional volume and gain controls on the 10 band are really a nice extra, like a EQ and pre-amp combined. Here’s my post with a bit of a review:

Yup, I use one at the end of my chain, to add low mids/mods and to tailor the overall sound to the room.
The other Guitarist in my band has a brighter and less mid tone, so I go with a mid heavy tone.

I got a 7 band Boss for my way over the top mids on my Rectoverb. Without that eq that amp doesn't work well for me

EQ is the one pedal I've put off.

So they're not all the same? I've never used one.

Time to do some more research.

Only been in the last few years that I got an EQ. Not sure I could live without one now. I like to boost upper mids and then knock them back down a bit with my tone controls. That way I can get some more cut when I need it, or bring back some high end when rolling down the volume. Really opened up some options.
I need to try an MXR.

Trust check them out. Check out others as well but honest cant go wrong with an MXR 6 band or the 10 band seems to be loved by many as well.

Check em out and definitely so helpful and a must have I feel.

So I just grabbed the mxr 10-band. Makes a big difference, I'm glad you talked me into it.

The bass boost is incredible. I tried to do the "scooped mids" thing with it, but the hiss was pretty bad at the top end. But the eq does a great job as a signal and bass boost while reducing the hiss by leaving the mid-upper frequencies down a bit, and then I can crank the treble up at the amps. It's a much cleaner and more flexible signal now.

Plus, it has dual outputs. So now I can add a fourth amp for a dual-stereo rig! Love that ping-pong delay!

For now I have it after my fuzz, OD and distortion pedals going into the amp. Where you all putting yours?
