This is my favorite couch guitar.
What a beautiful object, perfect for crooning in the parlour I'll bet.
To have a 1939 Martin couch guitar is on my check list
Wow, that's a beauty. Is it all mahogany?
A recent bridge? What strings do you use on it?
It’s the original bridge. I use D’Addario phosphor bronze medium gauge strings.
The bridge looks newer somehow. You take damn good care of it. I see it is the long glued in saddle.
Those are the strings I use on my 2015 HD-28. I was curious, thinking you'd go down a gauge or two due to the age.
Magnificent example you have there! You know how I love a Martin!
Really nice! Bet it is part of you.
Oh man, I am DROOLING! What a guitar! Wish I could hear it live, not a recording- there is something about the way the air moves with those old Martins that can’t quite be captured with recording equipment. Outstanding guitar!
Thread title made me think of Ray Walston.
Ray Walston made me think of the title, haha.
It’s pretty sweet. It’s not my favorite guitar but one of them. It’s got a nice woody tone. I only paid around $600 for it about 20 years ago.
