I’m hugely enjoying how this track forces me to play differently to my norm.

I love the long strange trip version of this song, and some of the guitar parts where it sounds like Garcia manages to drag a melody resentfully out of psychedelic nonsense are honestly some of my favourite ever.

Whilst the jam track doesn’t freak out quite as much as the dead do, it’s fun to play some of the pretty melodies and work out how much of the fretboard can be played over it.

@of this world how about some GD-style hillbilly funk for an upcoming improv challenge?

You forgot to thank me for "reaching out", though.

Speaking of The Dead, I just got a free 3-pack of Grateful Dead patches from Levi's of all places. They have a promo going where you get a pack free when you spend $50. The promo actually didn't work when I tried it so I ended up emailing customer service and asking if they could send me one since it didn't work and they did!

Apparently they have a Grateful Dead collection that they're selling and this is part of the promo. I guess they have a thing going with them to do this collection.

Its off-topic but I figured I'd share anyway. Funny thing is I was never a Dead fan until I started learning to play. That one thing alone probably expanded the music I listen to 10-fold, where I listen to all sorts of music I'd have never considered listening to before I bought a guitar. Weird how that works, huh?

I'd be glad if I never heard that phrase ever again. When did "talk to/ask/whatever" become reach out?

If I start playing along with a Dark Star backing track, I’d better have at least an hour to spare(I’ll be starting the track over a few times of course:D). I absolutely love that song and just get completely absorbed if I start noodling along with it.

I stuck my head into Levi’s flagship store when I was in San Francisco last month and I had to have this one.

This guy has some nice Dead and Phish backing tracks. I haven't been to his page in a while, thanks for the reminder.
