just picked her up today. She has the most god awful teenager-garage refinish that clearly has specks of sand/hair etc. Also the neck was refinished ages ago and they put the incorrect logo on the headstock. However other than plastics and refinish/refret it appears to be all original. I’m excited to bring her back to life! A few questions: 1) which logo is correct for a feb 1966 neck? I have seen some 66 strats with the “DES” logo and some of them with the five sets of digits below the sync trem phrase logo. I’m not sure which logo to buy to make it correct. 2) I need to get it refinished. Any recommendations on someone in so cal who is experienced with vintage guitars? 3) the neck is one of the bigger U shaped necks. Anyone know of a reputable luthier/repairman who can have the neck reshaped into a soft V or modern C without destroying this guitar? 4) some of the saddle screws are a bit rusty, and one the Allen hole is stripped. Should I take the saddles off and soak in wd40 or something to make sure they won’t break in the saddles during adjustments.
