I literally crapped my pants, the neck hit the coffee table in the picture. Thank goodness it did not leave a mark

This is why I no longer use this type of stand unless it's in a corner or some really secure place. The hanging stands from Fender that imitate the Hercules stand are pretty decent and are only $17 when they go on sale. I've bought 3 so far.

    There are no “accidents”...

I once used one of those stands when we played on a flatbed trailer "outdoor stage". My guitar spent more time face down on the floor than the lead singer that afternoon...

With as Tough as Fender necks are, I hope your house is okay.

I’m not hearing a similar concern for the coffee table...

My stands have a little rubber-band thingie that stops this from happening.

I have a Hercules stand outside. Been using the other style because of limited space. I will be switching them out today

A couple years ago I took my 23-year-old Strat in for a fret levelling and recrowning. The next day, my dog knocked it out of its stand and it fell face-down on the hardwood floor. Huge dents in the first and second frets where each string was smashed into the frets from the fall :(

Let’s remember the clip of Keef clocking that guy over the head with his Tele, then playing on...IN TUNE!

My coffee table has a mysterious dent in the top. I wish I had some idea what caused it, Mrs Bit was quite miffed.

    It looks like this:

    Any clues?

I played with a guy who had a P-bass that had fallen out of the bed of a pickup doing 55. I can't say it was still in tune, but save for some road rash and a slightly bent tuner, it played fine and still plays to this day.
