Happy retirement, Ancient Ax, may you enjoy many happy years of leisure.
I retired from my career with Ford 15 years ago, and immediately began a part time job as a substitute teacher. So far I enjoy it, and it pays for some nice gear.
And ..judging from the avatar (if that's you LOL), you look like you are quite elated with the prospect of retirement.

Congrats and enjoy! I retired from full time 8 years ago and from part time 4 months ago, just in time for my band to get busy. It's a much better time now!

Message for MR Thrup'ny Bit. Do you have a lookalike or did I see you in Carrick on Shannon yesterday evening in the Landmark Hotel?

If it wasn't you you have an impersonator, carrying a very nice guitar case and bearing a distinguished looking ponytail!

I must apologise for not having picked up on the fact that you're retiring. I thought it was just a well deserved holiday.

As long as you don't have a younger wife (like I do who is still working) you can really enjoy your retirement. If, like me, your wife is out at work all day, like me you might be spending a lot of your time cleaning the house and doing other things that the weaker sex where never designed for! Enjoy :p

Eye stroke? Is that like an ocular migraine? I think I just had one of those but the doctor was dismissive.

Glad you are spending less time at work and more time at EVERYTHING else.

Congratulations. Took me awhile to get used to it, but it’s great now that I’m acclimated. Hope you have many happy laid back years.

No , an eye stroke is the same as a cerebral stroke . The blood flow is cut off to the retina which in turn begins to die .... there is no treatment available at this time to restore the vision you lose . Google CRAO , explains it all .

Suffered enforced retirement, i.e., redundancy December 2017. Panicked, got sorted with a part time driving job, sooo glad it happened. Once you've gotten over the euphoria of time being your own you'll probably realise you've a little too much of it once all the things you planned on taking months take only weeks! You'll then find things to occupy you and be well away....................congrats, it must be a tad easier to cope with when it happens as planned.

Lol, retirement best thing to ever happen to my guitar playing ... but I didn't end up with nearly the free time I anticipated ... forgot to factor in all the stuff I now have time to do myself, instead of paying somebody else to do it ... congratulations, and enjoy!
