Ok so I have this killer Strat and I noticed that my neck pickup doesn't work on position 5 of the 5-way switch?! It has the Gilmour mod w/means I can pull up on the 2nd tone knob to activate the neck pickup and it has a coil split on the 1st tone knob for the trembucker. So everything works normally except for if I go to position 5 on the switch then the guitar goes dead?! I took it apart this am and cant find anything wrong with it. Any suggestions are appreciated!

I had this happen to my middle pickup. Turned out to be the solder joint on the back of the pickup. Reflowed the joint just by touching it with a little flux and a hot iron and it's been good ever since.

Well maybe I explained it wrong, the neck pickup works -but only if the 2nd tone pot is pulled up, if the tone pot is in the down position it doesn't work

So it works find as a blender with other pickups but just not in the standard 5 position neck only setting?

Sounds like the contact in the switch might be dirty.

I agree. If the pup isn't dead, I would think the problem lies at the switch.

Did you Faraday your body channel? Make sure nothing is shorting on the copper tape, which is one big ground plane.

Which is why I don't shield although I have guitars that are shielded.

My tech fixed it, one of the contacts on the 5-way switch had rotated, fixed it with his pinky fingernail in like 5 seconds!

It will likely rotate back down again and stop working.

Time for a new high quality switch imho.
