I bought this Strat with the intention of parting it out and building a partscaster. Now I think it's too nice to pull apart. It has 57/62 pickups.

Would look sexy with a leopard pickguard.

So what part of it did you originally plan to keep and build on... in other words, what made you buy it in the first place?

    Nice looking Strat btw. :)

There's really no need to mess with newer MIMs unless you want to.

Locking tuners and decent strings are a good start, beyond that it's all optional and discretionary.

Said the guy whose MIMs only have the bodies and necks left...

I just played my 57/62 equipped black Fender Strat and it was a real joy.

    Congrats!

I was going to just keep the body and bridge and swap everything else. I really like the fender neck though. I love black pickguards too.

Nothing wrong with 57/62s - they sound great -- nice guitar there

Congrats on the new MIM Strat, Swamp_Thang!

All 4 of my Strats are MIM's and they are all great to play.

    .

If you have a need to mod ... Rewire the circuit with the Armstrong Blender. It converts the second tone knob to blend from SSS to series HSH or anywhere between -- and no new parts! You keep all the classic SSS Strat tones plus you get access to a stealth Les Paul and Super Strat. It's my favorite mod.

If you want to do something fun for low investment ... get a reverse/Hendrix angled pickguard. I got this Tort one to match my Tele for $10ish. It changes the bridge pickup tone in a good way. I also have the Armstrong Blender on this Strat.
