I'm not sure if this is the final height.

Yea, I think it's going to go up more. Whatever, I never look in that direction. I usually gaze East or South toward Mt. Rainer. This is the third house in my area to have done this. I think the guy owns a construction company himself, not sure.

I think lifting his truck might have been slightly simpler.

Maybe he meant to, but accidentally lifted his house up?

Wish I had a basement.. it would add 1200 square feet to my house...think of the music room/woodshop/machine shop....

Is your area prone to foundation issues or are the basements in the area sized for Munchkins? Lifting a house is nothing to be taken lightly.

Is the point to make it into a 2-story?

Yes. Also I think he owns a construction company, so I suppose he's giving himself a discount? o_O

I was a projectionist for a while, and Stop Making Sense was the only movie to get people up and dancing.

That's not uncommon. Typically, the house is lifted that high to pour tall basement walls. The result is a basement of standard room height with windows around the perimeter.
