Well, a week ago I ordered a bass from one of @vid1900 ’s PSA thread. This bass was just $35 dollars and change, which included free shipping. Mine actually came in the darker blue color that was featured in the eBay ad. Some others that bought these got an attractive sky blue.

At first glance, it appears that the truss rod will need to be tightened. Action is a mile high off the neck, but can be adjusted. It came with all the strings slackened, in a box that had no styrofoam in it except a small piece at the bottom strap button, and a thin strip under the neck by the headstock.

Quality wise it appears that it is on par with a low end Squier, but with nicer tuners. This is going to be a practice ax for me, to do a fret leveling and recrown on with a new kind of fret file I haven’t tried yet. I’m coming into the 21st century as far as tools are concerned. I haven’t done a level and crown in about thirty years, the last time I did it was on my 82 strat, and I used a three sided file. This will be my first time leveling a bass. But I imagine it’s all the same, just with bigger frets to file.

Wow, so upon further examination, it appears that there is only one proud fret on this bass. The third fret is a little high checking it with a fret rocker, and the rest are all level. So I'm just going to dress that one fret a little, and leave the rest alone.

Everything works as it should. And it's light. It weighs 6.4lbs.

Congrats on the new bass. BEFORE you file that fret make sure it's seated. In my experience >90% of proud frets are from not being seated.

Good advice. Thanks. It is seated. I think. I wasn't able to push a piece of paper under it.

I recrowned the third fret with a three sided file, and finished it up with sand paper of varying grits, ending at 2000. So now all the frets are level. I polished all the frets with gorgamyte, and oiled the fretboard.

When I went to set it up, I had to add some relief to the neck. The nut was actually cut right. All of the first fret notes were dead on. As far as string height went, I ended up setting the action at 8/64 across for absolutely no buzz on any of the strings/frets. I could have got away with 6 or 7 64ths, but I like to pull the strings hard with my fingers.

It intonated perfectly. The saddles are a little wonky looking as the two middle saddles look kind of angeled a little bit, kind of like a Tele with barrel saddles. 31B9ED7D-C5DA-4B97-83F8-3773F1E0C374.jpeg 7582B6DA-493C-4427-BB5C-149E5ADF685D.jpeg AE0BA840-C56E-4ACA-A60D-23F9560D74E4.jpeg

Yeah, you should really read vid1900’s PSA posts when he makes them so you don’t miss out. That bass was $35.00 and some change with free shipping, and there was no tax as I live in a state without sales tax. It took a week to get to me via FedEx.

Yes, mine came in sky blue. Still have not really unboxed it probably as I really did not need it. PSAs, my weakness

Any idea on the weight on yours? Mine was either 6.4 lbs or 6 lbs 4oz. It can’t read the display on the scale really well.
