    Hello,
I recently found a nice looking and playing strat. The seller claims that it's a original refin 1968 body, neckplate, pickupcovers and knobs, 1966 grey bottom pickups, 1982 Jack and jack plate. Newer parts: 2000 vintage trem, cts pots, a wrong era aged pickguard and a Custom Shop 69 Maplecap Neck. I'm not into cbs strats, but it would be a great deal and i freaking love jimi. So whats your opinion?

So probably about a grand? Seriously, how much is a 68 body worth? I'd be into it too, if the price is right:thumb: I went cheap and bought a Vintera 70's strat. I love big headstock.

Are you gonna pull the trigger? I would!

Ya... you know what it is and it is not really being misrepresented.
I would not put a lot of faith in the neck being an actual CS. There were a few companies putting out large and small headstock maple slab necks in the 90s. I built my first Partscaster ~'98 using one, I think I paid $50 for the neck.
CS necks are rarer than hen's teeth, since the only way to get one is to remove it from a CS guitar. They aren't like production necks that you can buy from Fender (and they are serialized)

Too bad no original neck. I'd give it a miss.

It's about 1300€. You can find some 1968 refin bodys for way more than that plus 3 original 1966 grey bottoms. The neck is genuine CS...i personally think that it's a great deal.

    Me too.

Cheaper than a CS Reissue by a fair bit and with some original parts.... what's not to like?

Just check the radius of the neck as some are vintage correct at 7.25 but others are 9.5 depending on year and model (Journeyman relic etc)

I also think it would be a good catch. If it plays well and it sounds great it sure is a keeper.
Maybe more character than an original with a bad neck anyway.
I would buy that if it feels great. A great guitar is a great guitar.
The neck and the body is more than $1300 - way more.

    All the best,
    Robin

A grand and he's lucky you take that worthless piece of wood from him (it's not worthless but better he don't knows ihih). Anyway seems a good project to me. Just change that horrible plastics and play her very hard.
