On my way to pick up a fender strat MIM. the seller says it’s a 50’s reissue but haven’t been able to find any information online. I see a lot of classic players guitars but none with this reissue style. Serial number leads me to believe it’s from 1995. The guy is asking $250 which I know is an okay price for a MIM strat. Does anybody know the value of this version? And does anybody know the official name of this model? I know most strats come SSS configuration, is this SSH a mod?

    Cheers

That is a Mexican made Strat special series...not a 50s reissue. The Special series was a shortlived series in the mid 90s.They had a switch instead of a bottom tone knob which enabled the bridge humbucker to be split into single coil mode.I think they were discontinued and replaced by the shortlived Tex Mex series.

    Definitely not a 50s anything.

A 50s Reissue would have a maple fretboard, vintage style single coil pickups, 8-hole single ply white pickguard, aged white plastic parts and truss rod adjustment at the body end of the neck...

I see. Yes that’s exactly what it is. It’s hard to find any info and I want to offer him a reasonable amount without getting robbed. What would you say the value of this guitar would be?

    .

If you're able to buy a MIM for $200-$250 you're doing pretty well. Most markets they run $350-$450.

I don't know what the market value is but $250 is quite a good price.

That's also the most rare color for the Strat Special model. Grab it.

OK, it's the following day. Dozens are wondering -

"if this guy didn't buy it for $250 I sure as hell would, wonder if he didn't . . . "

Thanks to Balston11 for that interesting link. If this guitar has medium jumbo frets, I'd buy it just for that.

    OP?
